Oil Tank Replacement

Replacing a commercial oil tank involves a considerable amount of planning to reduce the disruption to our customer’s business. Whether the replacement tank provides the fuel for a boiler or generator, or even for forklift trucks, we aim to keep any inconvenience to your business to a minimum.

All tanks with a capacity over 200 litres installed at a commercial property should be provided with secondary containment, this is also known as bunding. Secondary containment can be provided in two forms, the first being a masonry bund which has been rendered with an oil proof additive or resin lined. The second is a totally enclosed bunded tank, which is basically a tank within a tank. The main benefit of an enclosed bunded tank is lower maintenance as you don’t need to remove rain water or leaves from the bund. All bunds should contain 110% of the primary tanks capacity.

When carrying out our initial site survey we will discuss the reason behind the oil storage, for instance:

Does the tank being replaced feed an emergency generator? If so, do you need us to set up a temporary supply whilst works are carried out?

Does the tank feed a boiler? If so is it the middle of winter? Do we need to set up a temporary supply so that your workforce can still work effectively?

These are examples of our considerations along with the Health and Safety issues associated with working at a third parties premises. This is why we always consider if the work can be safely executed during normal working hours, or for example would it be safer to carry out a crane lift on a Saturday morning when the factory is empty?

Depending upon the type of installation, we fit both polyethylene and steel oil storage tanks.

As we have a wealth of experience in all aspects of tank installation we can provide a quotation for the complete project, which may include the groundworks, decommissioning, new installation, electrical works and commissioning. Alternatively we can quote just for the tank works and work along side your existing contractors.
